The title of Carson’s book, Silent Spring, was a reference to a world without birds that could be the ultimate outcome of indiscriminate pesticide use. 

Carson이 쓴 책의 제목인 Silent Spring은 무분별한 살충제 사용의 최종적인 결과가 될 수 있는, 새가 살지 않는 세상에 대한 언급이었다.

 

As a scientist, Carson researched her book carefully and grounded it in rigorous science. 

과학자로서 Carson은 자신의 책을 위해 꼼꼼하게 조사하였고 정확한 과학에 그것의 근거를 두었다. 

 

She made a forceful case for the severe damage that reckless spraying of pesticides had caused to wildlife and exposed the potential threat to humans as well. 

그녀는 분별없는 살충제의 살포가 야생동물에게 끼친 심각한 피해를 강력하게 주장했고 인간에게 또한 미칠 수 있는 잠재적인 위협을 폭로했다. 

 

She did it with a passionate, poetic writing style that made the subject accessible to ordinary people.
