In general, evaluation of results can be less subjective than other kinds of performance measurement.

일반적으로 결과에 대한 평가는 다른 종류의 성과 평가보다 덜 주관적일 수 있다. 

 

 

This makes measuring results highly acceptable to employees and managers alike.

이러한 점은 직원들과 관리자들 모두에게 결과를 평가하는 것이 매우 받아들일 만한 것이 되도록 한다. 

 

 

Results-oriented performance measurement is also relatively easy to link to the organization’s goals.

결과 중심의 성과 평가는 또한 비교적 쉽게 조직의 목표들과 연결된다. 

 

However, measuring results has problems with validity, because results may be affected by circumstances beyond each employee’s performance.

그러나 결과를 평가하는 것은 타당성에 있어 문제가 있는데, 그 이유는 결과는 각 직원의 성과와 별 상관이 없는 상황들에 의해 영향을 받을 수 있기 때문이다. 

 

Also, if the organization measures only final results, it may fail to measure significant aspects of performance that are not directly related to those results.

또한, 만약 조직이 오직 최종 결과들만 평가 한다면 그 결과들과 직접적으로 관련이 없는 성과의 중요한 측면들을 평가하는 데 실패할 수도 있다. 

 

If individuals focus only on aspects of performance that are measured, they may neglect significant skills or behaviors.

만약 개개인이 평가되는 성과의 측면에만 초점을 맞춘다면 중요한 기술이나 행동들을 무시할 것이다. 

 

For example, if the organization measures only productivity, employees may not be concerned enough with customer service.

예를 들어, 조직이 만약 생산성만 평가한다면 직원들은 고객 서비스에 대해서는 충분히 고민하지 않을지도 모른다. 

 

 

Finally, focusing strictly on results does not provide guidance on how to improve.

마지막으로, 결과에만 오로지 초점을 맞추는 것은 개선 방안에 대해서는 지침을 제공하지 못한다. 

 

If baseball players are in a hitting slump, simply telling them that their batting average is .190 may not improve their hitting.

만약 야구 선수가 타격 슬럼프에 빠졌다면 그저 그들의 타율이 1할 9푼이라고 말하는 것은 그들의 타격을 개선해 주지 못할 것이다.
