★ 중요어법

 

Among these is sting autotomy, the horrible process in which a stinging insect self-eviscerates, leaving its stinger embedded in the target’s flesh.

 

전치사구가 문두로 오면서 주어와 동사가 도치된 구문입니다.

언뜻 보면 동사 앞에 있는 these를 주어로 잘못 보고

수일치 오류라고 생각할 수 있으나

these앞에는 among이라는 전치사가 붙어 있고

전치사구는 주어 역할을 할 수 없습니다.

도치구문은 진짜 주어를 찾아 수일치를 제대로 시켜줘야 함에 주의합니다.

The economy of life produces astonishing outcomes.

 

생명의 경제는 놀라운 결과를 낳는다.

이들 결과 중에는 침을 쏘는 곤충이 자기 몸의 일부를 떼어내어 자기 침을 목표물의 살에 박혀 있게 두는 끔찍한 과정인 침자절이 있다.
