AI-Jazari (1136-1206) was a Muslim scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, artisan, artist and mathematician.

Al-Jazari(1136–1206)는 이슬람의 학자이자 발명가, 기계 설계자, 장인, 예술가 및 수학자였다. 

 

He is best known for writing ‘The Book of Knowledge of ingenious Mechanical Devices' in 1206.

그는 1206년에 ‘독창적인 기계 장치 지식에 관한 책’을 쓴 것으로 가장 잘 알려져 있다.

 

He is remembered for his automaton designs, including water-operated ones.

그는 물로 작동되는 것을 포함한 자동 장치를 설계한 사람으로 기억된다.

 

Most of them are decorative fanciful objects, though some also serve a function.

그러한 자동 장치들의 대부분은 장식용으로 만든 별난 물건이지만, 몇몇은 또한 실제로 기능을 수행할 수 있다. 

 

AI-Jazari constructed a hand washing automaton first employing the flush mechanism now used in modern toilets.

Al-Jazari는 지금도 현대적인 화장실에 사용되는 수세식 기계 구조를 처음으로 사용한 손씻기 자동 장치를 개발하였다. 

 

It features an automaton standing by a basin that is filled with water.

그것은 물로 채워진 세면대 옆에서 서 있는 자동 장치로 구성된 특징을 지니고 있다. 

 

When the user pulls the lever, the water is released and the automaton refills the basin.

사용자가 레버를 당기면 물이 나오고 옆에 서 있던 자동 장치가 세면대의 물을 다시 채운다.

 

Leonardo da Vinci is said to have been influenced by the classic automatons of AI-Jazari.

Leonardo da Vinci가 Al-jazari의 고전적 자동 장치에 영향을 받았다고 한다.

 

AI-Jazari appears to have been the first inventor to display an interest in creating human-like machines for practical purposes such as using the environment for human comfort.

Al-Jazari는 인간의 편리를 위하여 환경을 이용하는 것과 같은 실용적인 목적으로 인간과 유사한 기계를 창조하는 데 흥미를 보인 첫 번째 발명가였던 것처럼 보인다.
