Location matters to startups because the people who provide them with the resources they need to grow—revenues, talent, capital, advice— are more than producers of code or PowerPoint decks.

 

신생 기업에게 위치 선정이 중요한데, 왜냐하면 회사가 성장하는 데 필요한 자원, 즉 수익, 재능, 자본, 자문을 회사에 제공하는 사람들이 코드나 파워 포인트 덱의 생산자들 이상이기 때문이다. 

 

They live in houses or apartments and commute to offices.

 

그들은 주택이나 아파트에 살면서 사무실로 통근한다.

 

They attend meetings and bump into each other randomly at coffee shops and in hallways.

 

그들은 회의에 참석하고 커피숍과 복도에서 서로 임의로 마주친다. 

 

And company founders seeking to build, develop, and sustain vital trust relationships with their startup’s customers, suppliers, employees, mentors, and investors must meet with people in person repeatedly.

 

그리고 신생 기업의 고객, 공급업체, 직원, 멘토 그리고 투자자와의 필수적인 신뢰 관계를 구축, 개발 및 유지하려고 하는 회사 설립자들은 사람들과 반복적으로 직접 대면해야 한다.

 

Startups thrive or fizzle depending on the quality of these people and the strength of those relationships.

 

신생기업은 이러한 사람들의 질과 그 관계의 깊이에 따라 번창하거나 실패한다.

 

And part of that quality depends on where a startup locates.

 

그리고 그 질의 일부는 신생 기업이 어디에서 사업을 시작하느냐에 달려있다.

 

Pick the right one and the startup gets the resources that it needs to grow.

 

올바른 위치를 선택하면 신생 기업이 성장하는 데 필요한 자원을 얻게 된다.

 

Pick the wrong place to run the company and it withers in the struggle to get those resources.

회사를 운영할 장소를 잘못 선택하면 그러한 자원을 얻기 위해 분투하다가 쇠퇴해 버린다.
