관계대명사 what과 헷갈릴 수 있으니 주의합니다.

단수취급하여 단수동사를 씁니다.

Although the prevalent emotional tone of infant-directed talk is warm and affectionate, parents of older infants vary it to convey important information.

 

유아어[유아를 대하는 말]의 일반적인 정서적 어조는 따뜻하고 다정하지만, 더 높은 연령대 유아의 부모들은 중요한 정보를 전달하기 위해 그 어조에 변화를 준다. 

 

For example, a mother’s “No” uttered with sharply falling intonation tells the baby that the mother disapproves of something, whereas a cooed “Yeesss” indicates approval.

 

예를 들어, 엄마가 급격히 내려가는 억양으로 “안 돼”라고 말하면 엄마가 어떤 것이 못마땅하다고 아기에게 말해 주는것이지만, “그래애~” 라고 정답게 속삭이면, 그것은 인정을 나타낸다.
